CBD or Cannabidiol: What is it? For some people, it means breaking the law, being “stoned”, giggling in clouds of funny smelling smoke, eating a lot, and listening to Bob Marley, but for tens of thousands of people and pets (that’s right our pets), Cannabidiol (or CBD for short) means relief.
Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is made from strains of cannabis that contain low levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is what makes marijuana psychoactive. CBD oil is high in cannabinoids, a group of phytochemicals found in cannabis plants. THC is the psychoactive component of cannabis, CBD is not. Hemp is classified as any part of the cannabis plant containing no more than 0.3% THC in dry weight form (not liquid or extracted form).

OK, so now we know what it is and what it can be used for. How do we know what to buy, and how what dose is appropriate for our pets?
Look into where the CBD brand sources their hemp from. If available, try to find US grown hemp, as US farmers are required to be certified by state departments of agriculture. Check the levels of THC, and whether the manufacturer uses whole plants of the full spectrum, full spectrum is preferred.
The following are veterinary recommendations for dosing CBD oil:
